Dr Joel Porter is registered psychologist working with individuals, couples and groups. Joel's work often involves helping people to over come problematic addictions and addictive behaviours. He has over 20 years of professional experience in a wide range of addiction and mental heath settings in New Zealand and overseas. Joel is a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the National Addiction Centre, Christchurch School of Medicine, University of Otago.
Joel is the Director of the Pacific Centre for Motivation & Change, Ltd. (www.pacificcmc.com) and has been providing professional development workshops in the areas of Motivational Interviewing, Maintaining Change, Counselling Skills for Professionals working in mental health, addiction, health, educational and corrections settings. He has facilitated over 100 workshops in New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Myanmar, Denmark and Canada. He is a member of the International-Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers.
